In the closing match of the year, what should have been a dominant display ended in a disappointing draw, largely due to our inability to complete the final pass and convert our chances on goal.
The match started on a positive note, with our back line playing through the opposition’s press and effectively working the ball forward to our front three.
On her debut, Sierra Leone international Wuyah Mohai scored her first goal of the season, giving Banaat FC an early lead in the first half.
The score remained 1-0 heading into halftime. Unsatisfied with the narrow margin, the team was determined to show greater intensity and control in the second half.
Unfortunately, the goal drought continued after the break despite dominating possession. Missed opportunities and a lack of clinical finishing kept the scoreline unchanged as the match entered its final moments.
In extra time, a long ball led to a defensive error in our back line, allowing a 971 attacker a clear opportunity on goal and bringing the match level.
While we are disappointed with the result, knowing we should have come away with all three points, the focus now shifts to building momentum and carrying a strong, resilient energy into 2026.
The Lilacs return to action on January 10, 2026, against Onyx FC.
