Banaat FC suffered a difficult 5–2 defeat against fellow title contenders Mubadara on Friday, 15th May at 321 Sports AD, in a high-stakes Women’s League clash that carried major implications in the race for the championship.

Entering the match level at the top of the table, Banaat knew that victory would secure the league title with one game remaining. Instead, in an intense and emotionally charged encounter between the league’s two strongest sides, the title race now heads to the final day of the season.

Tense Opening Half in High-Stakes Clash
With both teams fully aware of the significance of the fixture, the match began with a high level of intensity and physicality.

Banaat were forced into an early change in the 31st minute, as defender Servi was substituted due to injury, with Ghanima entering the match.

Mubadara broke the deadlock shortly after through Owusu in the 33rd minute, before doubling the lead again in the 41st minute as pressure continued to build on Banaat heading into the break.

Despite several competitive moments and defensive battles across the pitch, Banaat entered half-time trailing 2–0 in a tightly contested first half.

Banaat Fight Back but Mubadara Extend Advantage
Banaat responded positively after the restart and found a way back into the match in the 58th minute when Lizz made it 2–1, producing an excellent individual finish after volleying the ball beyond a defender and calmly converting the resulting 1v1 opportunity.

However, Mubadara responded quickly, with Owusu completing her hat-trick through goals in the 62nd and 65th minutes to restore control for the home side.

Banaat continued to push forward, introducing fresh energy through substitutions as Caye and Shujoun entered the match.

The pressure paid off again in the 83rd minute when Wuyah reduced the deficit, finishing from a well-delivered cross by Lizz from the right wing to give Banaat hope late in the game.

But Mubadara sealed the result in the 86th minute through Toorfah, confirming a 5–2 result in one of the most significant fixtures of the season.

Looking Ahead
Despite the disappointment, Banaat FC remain firmly in the title race heading into the final Women’s League match of the season.

With everything now riding on the last fixture, the team will look to respond positively, regroup quickly, and carry their determination into what promises to be a decisive conclusion to the campaign.
