UAE's first women's football club with an Arabic name, Banaat (بنات) FC made a grand debut at the region's one-of-a-kind neo-culture festival, BRED Abu Dhabi - with space that was given to the club by Abu Dhabi's DTC.
The club aimed to raise awareness about women's football, enroll future football stars in their upcoming academy and sell merchandise to support the club. The space the club used to represent the team's offerings and engage with the visitors, was set up and even painted by the team's management, staff and players.
Supporters, known singularly as "Banaatista" (بنااتيستا), were treated to a variety of activities at the booth, including a TikTok station providing a dynamic backdrop for photos, a chance to snag exclusive merchandise, including shirts, scarves, hoodies, notebooks, and even official jerseys. Visitors got to meet-and-greet the coaches and players, some also participated in 1v1 challenges, juggling displays and showcasing their skills.
Adding a touch of artistic flair, the "Show Banaat FC Some Love" wall featured messages written by all visitors to the Banaat space and also important words from Jeff Staple, Asma Elbadawi and many Arab and Emirati men who were converted to fans and supporters of women's football right there and then.
Banaat FC's impactful debut at the festival paves the way for more women's football initiatives and community involvement within the UAE and the region.
